Pop Mart's move may have been hasty!
The decision-makers probably didn't anticipate that raising Labubu's monthly output from 10 million to 50 million would directly 'dilute' the most valuable scarcity of the IP.
The intention was to drive revenue through large-scale distribution, but unexpectedly, the rapid increase in output has significantly diminished the sense of anticipation—once it becomes a mass-produced item, the halo of scarcity disappears, and it won't be long before it becomes 'ubiquitous'.

In fact, moderately increasing production capacity to around 20 million might be the balance point: it can maintain consumers' excitement and sense of rarity of 'having to wait an hour to buy', while also somewhat satisfying market demand.

Unfortunately, many emerging companies still find it hard to escape the inertia of 'making quick money', lacking sufficient strategic determination. This is not only a lesson for Labubu but also a lesson worth reflecting on for the entire trendy toy industry.
