#DOJBTCAuction

The #DOJBTCAuction refers to the auction of Damon Dash's one-third stake in Roc-A-Fella Records, which includes the rights to Jay-Z's debut album "Reasonable Doubt". The auction was held to pay off Dash's $193,000 child support debt and several million dollars in back taxes owed to the state of New York. ²

New York City accused Jay-Z of sabotaging the auction by making public statements that suggested the rights to "Reasonable Doubt" would revert back to him in 2031. However, the city claims that the rights will actually remain with Roc-A-Fella Records until 2098, which could increase the value of the auction by tenfold.

The auction was eventually held, and New York State bought Damon Dash's shares of Roc-A-Fella Records to pay off his tax debt.³ Jay-Z is set to regain ownership of "Reasonable Doubt" in 2031, as part of the original deal.
