BRAZILIAN STATE COMPANY ANNOUNCES IT WILL MINING $BTC
Petrobras announced this week that it will begin mining Bitcoin (BTC) through a project that involves several areas of the company and that focuses on blockchain applications in the company's value chain for low-carbon transition, as revealed by the BlockNews portal.
According to the report, in addition to Bitcoin mining, the project includes tokenization of assets and other studies on how the technology can impact the company, as revealed by Marcelo Curi, Implementation Champion and Substitute Coordinator under the leadership of Rodrigo Chaves, Project Coordinator.
Joining Petrobras in developing the project are the Leopoldo Américo Miguez de Mello Research, Development and Innovation Center (Cenpe); Petrobras University and Ledger Labs of the Business School of the Pontifical Catholic University of Rio de Janeiro (PUC-Rio).
This isn't the first time Brazil's oil exploration company has dabbled in crypto. Last year, the company announced a partnership with Cardano, and through the partnership, ADA's blockchain education program is now available to the Brazilian company.
In collaboration with Petrobras, the Cardano Foundation has been providing blockchain education workshops for the company's employees, with Cardano Academy content being delivered via Petrobras University.
