In 2023, Baiyunshan applied WCT technology to the production supply chain of traditional Chinese medicine pieces, with full information on the blockchain from the cultivation, harvesting, and processing to the final sales. The blockchain records detailed information about the origin of the medicinal materials (such as Guangdong Xinhui aged tangerine peel, Jilin Changbai Mountain ginseng), agricultural operation records during the cultivation process, harvesting times, processing parameters (such as steaming duration, frying temperature), quality inspection reports (pesticide residues, heavy metals, active ingredient content), allowing pharmacies and medical institutions to verify the authenticity and traceability information of the medicine pieces by scanning a code when purchasing. Baiyunshan pays suppliers for medicinal materials through WCT, promoting a good development of the supply chain with quality products at reasonable prices. By 2024, this system will cover over 200 core traditional Chinese medicine pieces, leading to a 95% reduction in complaint rates due to quality issues, and a 55% year-on-year increase in purchasing volume by pharmacies and medical institutions, enhancing the overall quality standards and market competitiveness of the traditional Chinese medicine piece industry.
