The SwissBorg exchange was hacked for 41 million USD due to a vulnerability from a partner
The Swiss crypto exchange #SwissBorg has admitted to being attacked, causing a loss of 41 million USD in the form of Solana (SOL). However, the vulnerability was not in the exchange itself but in a third-party partner that specializes in providing SOL staking services. The attacker targeted the API of this partner, successfully withdrawing 192,600 SOL from SwissBorg users' accounts.
Commitment to compensation and asset recovery
Immediately after the incident, SwissBorg quickly confirmed and pledged to use the company's funds to compensate "a large part of the damage" to customers. The exchange has also contacted cybersecurity experts and security partners to trace the attacker's footprints and find ways to recover all the lost funds. SwissBorg emphasizes that the attack only affected the staking program $SOL , while other assets of users remain safe.
Increasing security challenges
This incident once again highlights the significant security challenges in the crypto industry. Recently, many other exchanges have also fallen victim to attacks, causing losses of tens of millions of USD. This underscores the importance of crypto platforms continuously reviewing and enhancing security, not only for their systems but also for third-party partners. #anh_ba_cong
