India’s Central Bureau of Investigation has arrested Darwin Labs co-founder Ayush Varshney in connection with the Gain Bitcoin case, according to Business Line.
The scam is estimated at around ₹20,000 crore ($2.17 billion).
Authorities had previously issued a Look Out Circular. He was formally arrested a day after the detention.
Investigators say Darwin Labs built the digital infrastructure behind the scheme. That includes the MCAP token and related ERC-20 smart contracts.
