After 9 years of forgetting the password.. The American basketball star recovers $1.8 million from Bitcoin

The American basketball star Kevin Durant has finally managed to access his digital wallet on the Coinbase platform after nine years of forgetting the password, which contains his investments in Bitcoin, estimated to be worth around $1.8 million.

The story began in 2016 when Durant joined the Golden State Warriors and attended a birthday party organized by American investor Ben Horowitz. During the party, Durant heard a lot about the emerging digital currency and decided, along with his business partner Rich Kleiman, to invest in it according to Business Insider.

However, after that, the duo faced difficulties accessing the digital account and lost the password, which prevented them from tracking their accounts or selling Bitcoin despite its gradually increasing value over the years. Kleiman revealed during the "Game Plan" event organized by CNBC and the Boardroom Foundation: "We couldn't access the account for years, and Bitcoin continued to rise without us benefiting, but it served us somehow in the end."

Durant's investment in Bitcoin represents an example of how early decisions can impact digital wealth.

Kleiman concluded his remarks by saying: "It's true that it took years of attempts, but in the end, it was our mistake as users.
