The bit layer, also known as the physical layer, is the lowest level of a computer network or data communication system. At this layer, data is transmitted and received in the form of bits (0s and 1s). It uses electrical signals, light, or radio waves to transfer the data. The bit layer defines which voltage level represents ‘0’ or ‘1’, how signal timing is managed, and how data travels through transmission media such as cables, fiber optics, or wireless links.
