Brazilian Inflation Increases (5.17%), Reinforcing the Deceleration in 2025
Brazil's year-on-year inflation accelerated in September to 5.17%, surpassing the Central Bank's target (4.5%). The biggest driver of the increase was residential electricity (+10.31%).
To combat these prices, the Central Bank keeps the basic rate high at 15%, which, according to economists, will lead to a sharp deceleration of economic growth from 3.4% (2024) to a projected 2.16% (2025).
