The virtues of charity (a work by Maulana Muhammad Zakariya, may Allah have mercy on him) mentions the last verse of Surah Tawbah — that is:
"Indeed, there has come to you a Messenger from among yourselves..."
(Surah Tawbah, Verses 128-129)
A famous incident is mentioned regarding it that relates to the esteemed personality of the Prophet ﷺ.
📖 Summary of the incident (as mentioned in the virtues of charity):
It is narrated from Abu Al-Dardaa (may Allah be pleased with him) or in some reports from Abu Ibn Ka'b (may Allah be pleased with him) that:
Once, these two verses were revealed upon the Prophet ﷺ:
"Indeed, a messenger has come to you from among yourselves... Until the end of the surah"
When these verses were revealed, Gabriel (peace be upon him) departed.
The Prophet ﷺ said:
"O Gabriel! Why did you take so long?"
Then Gabriel (peace be upon him) said:
"I had ascended to the heavens. There, all the doors were closed, no door was open, and I was bewildered as to what was happening.
Then I saw that all the doors had opened, and all the angels had gathered.
I asked: What is the matter?
Then it was informed that today a verse has been revealed that has never been revealed before —
That is, these are the last two verses of Surah Taubah."
And then Allah Almighty said:
"O Muhammad ﷺ! Whoever reads these two verses, I will protect him from every calamity, safeguard him from every enemy, and grant blessings in his home."
