Plasma is a layer-1 blockchain built specifically for stablecoin payments.

It supports zero-fee transfers of USDT for users, via a “paymaster” system that sponsors gas fees for basic transfers.

It uses a consensus mechanism called PlasmaBFT, which is based on the Fast HotStuff BFT protocol, to enable fast finality and high throughput.

It is EVM-compatible, meaning developers familiar with Ethereum tools (Solidity, etc.) can build on it.

It also includes a Bitcoin bridge, allowing BTC to be used in its ecosystem (via pBTC) in a trust-minimized way.
