Why do I want to write this series.

During the National Day holiday in 2018, the sun was shining, and the autumn air was crisp. I love autumn in Beijing; it should have been a good day for outdoor activities, and I got up early. However, I decided to stay at home and write something.

Recently, I have spent all my spare time writing the (HODL Bitcoin) series.

Of course, I hope someone will read my writing. I am very fortunate that the (HODL Bitcoin) series indeed has readers. We have really changed from four years ago, when my articles received at most three to five comments.

Of course, I can't write just because someone wants to read. There are countless articles with over 100,000 views that are garbage; I don't want to create more trash for this world. I must have practical and valuable content to share. I am fortunate that I do.

I hadn’t written articles about Bitcoin for a long time. By chance, I wrote a nostalgic article (four years of a cycle, not only the World Cup but also Bitcoin), which surprisingly received 250,000 views (I feel the Weibo data is inflated). I did not do any promotion, and this view count greatly exceeded my expectations. On the surface, both now and four years ago are bear markets, but the situation may really be different from four years ago; at least the level of attention is incomparable.

Recently, I spent some time re-focusing on the dynamics in the Bitcoin circle and felt that there has been a huge difference from back then.

Let’s start with the media in the crypto circle. Although there are a lot of public accounts, they all publish content that lacks substance. Many articles, just a glance reveals that the author is a novice, knows nothing, and is just talking nonsense. The others either do market analysis, predicting that the price will either go up or down tomorrow, or just promote coins, claiming that after missing Bitcoin, you can't miss ABCDEFG; it's all a routine.

Reading these things, won’t it make people foolish? Where did those early Bitcoin players go?

Isn't there anyone who can write something substantial for everyone?

Looking around, everyone is either busy issuing tokens or busy promoting coins. Those with conscience will tell you they still have faith in Bitcoin. Those without conscience basically don’t mention Bitcoin at all and push various junk instead.

Any traffic entry point, whether it is media, exchanges, or so-called wallets, is all issuing tokens.

The authors can no longer write seriously; it’s obvious they are just selling soft articles. The media can no longer provide reliable information; it’s obvious they are just selling platform fees. Exchanges can no longer provide reliable trading; it’s obvious they are just selling listing fees.

Being able to make money is also a skill. However, I find it strange; doesn’t anyone remember the original sentiment?

Okay, I was wrong; sentiment indeed cannot be eaten.

In the Chinese Bitcoin circle, we not only lack programmers and core developers willing to maintain Bitcoin but also lack preachers, and we lack people like Andreas M.

A soul figure like Antonopoulos.

Of course, I also need to reflect on myself. Although Bitcoin has brought me huge economic returns, I haven’t done much meaningful work for it.

I always want to wait for others to step up.

Because I know I cannot become someone like Andreas M. Antonopoulos. All my income does not come from within the circle; I still need to earn more money and hoard more coins. Bitcoin is not my main business; I have other dreams to realize, and achieving that dream not only requires a lot of money but also requires knowledge of many technical fields.

But if I don’t stand up and try, will another person stand up? Although I know there are many people more suitable than me to do this, I see no signs of anyone wanting to stand up.

At the same time, I have always been very skeptical whether it makes sense for me to stand up. From a broader perspective, the outcome of many things is predetermined. I know many people will lose everything; this has been happening for the past four years, and how many people have left in tears. Whether I write or not cannot affect the development of events.

Yes, I am actually a bit numb.

But at the same time, I am very optimistic because when a bear market comes, and all the scammers die out, a new spring will inevitably arrive. Whether I write or not, Bitcoin will develop rapidly on its own.

You see, the outcome is predetermined; I should do nothing and wait patiently.

However, sometimes I feel very sad. The development of the overall situation never cares about the survival of individuals; accompanied by thousands of people losing everything, Bitcoin still develops rapidly, which is very cruel.

What if what I write can save 3-5 people? Although it means nothing in the grand scheme, perhaps it can save an individual's life.

Okay, even saving 1 person is good; this is my original intention to write (Hoarding Bitcoin).

The content I write is either what I have always believed in or what I have personally experienced. It is the experience and thoughts I wish to share, as well as all my feelings invested in Bitcoin.

At first, I thought I only needed to write a few articles, but later I found that there was more and more content I could write. I have already completed 6 articles, which form the first part: Introduction, aimed at helping everyone get started.

(Bitcoin and Idealism) We are participating in a social experiment, which has the potential for failure, but we have no regrets.

(Getting off too early just because the vision is too small) The goal of this experiment is very ambitious. If everything goes smoothly, the price of Bitcoin may rise to 160 million RMB in 20 years.

(Hoarding Bitcoin: How far are you from financial freedom?) We have no other abilities; we can only rely on hoarding Bitcoin and patiently waiting for our own financial freedom.

(Hoarding Bitcoin: Impulse, loneliness, boredom, and contradiction) Although I will experience psychological tests such as impulse, loneliness, boredom, and contradiction, we are already prepared to hoard coins.

(Hoarding Bitcoin: The thrill of holding private keys) Although managing private keys is a bit troublesome, we are still prepared to take responsibility for ourselves.

(Hoarding Bitcoin: How to manage private keys?) Managing private keys is not as troublesome as imagined, but we need to grasp several principles.

Hoarding Bitcoin, the standard for getting started is: clearly define the goal of Bitcoin, be willing to participate in the experiment, and voluntarily take responsibility.

10

Take risks and start using Bitcoin for value storage, control your own Bitcoin private keys, and conduct cold storage.

In the following content, I have roughly listed a checklist and found that I could write about 10 more articles. Considering that new ideas may emerge during the writing process, and many people keep asking me questions, the content will only increase.

Hoarding Bitcoin is definitely not an easy task. Knowing is not difficult; doing is not easy. That's why I have so much content to write.

My goal is to write timeless classics. Therefore, I try to write about things that are not related to current events; the more a topic is a hot issue, the less I want to write about it. I hope that many years later, when you take out my articles again, you will still find them timeless and willing to share them with newcomers at that time.

Writing is not an easy task either. Knowing is not difficult; doing is not easy. I hope I can complete this work.

Wishing everyone a happy National Day!
