My childhood friend A-Zhe threw his phone onto my desk yesterday, and the contract account on the screen showed zero: "With a principal of 1000 yuan, it's gone in five days! I should have listened to you and just stuck to spot trading."
His words hit me like a stone, reminding me of many lessons learned by newcomers.
A-Zhe got into this from the community's "contract daily doubling" allure.
Last week, BTC spot trading sluggishly rose by 2%, and with his 1000 yuan principal, he turned around and jumped in with 10x leverage.
Who would have thought that the market in November 2025 would be so tricky? BTC fluctuated by 12% in a week, and on the day he entered, it dropped by 8%. When the APP's red message about liquidation popped up, he impulsively added to his position, and in the end, not only did he fail to save his position, but he also lost on fees.
This made me reflect deeply; after stepping into countless pitfalls, I've realized: whether to choose spot or contracts is not about how fast you can earn, but whether you can withstand it.
Especially for newcomers with a principal of less than 1500 yuan, really, don't touch contracts.
Take A-Zhe's 1000 yuan for instance; with 10x leverage, if BTC drops by 10%, he would be directly liquidated. The moment he sees a red candle, he irrationally adds to his position, and it's just a matter of time before his principal evaporates.
But spot trading is different; having the coins in your wallet gives you confidence.
For example, last month I held ETH in spot trading; when ETH dropped by 8% in a single day, I wasn't panicking even when my account showed a floating loss of 15%. After waiting for half a month, it bounced back to break even. If it were contracts, I would have been out already.
The volatility of contracts is several times that of spot trading, and newcomers simply can't handle the psychological pressure.
Last year, I bought SOL in spot trading, held it for 4 months, and it increased by 40%. Although it wasn't as thrilling as the contract myths, I slept soundly every night.
Don't envy the stories of contracts doubling in a day; for newcomers, being able to hold on to spot trading and not blindly fidgeting is far better than anything else—
This is the true way to win in the crypto world.
