On December 8, market news reported that the SEC has concluded its two-year investigation into Ondo Finance. Currently, the stock tokenization market is in the early stages of development, and we need to pay attention to the compliance and security of various project tokens.
Because the Binance wallet has already launched tokenized U.S. stocks supported by Ondo, users can directly enter the purchase of tokenized U.S. stocks by clicking on the stock token on the Binance wallet homepage. Therefore, we will only look at the security and dividend issues of Ondo.
Security Issues:
Compliance Custody: The underlying real assets (such as U.S. Treasury bonds and stocks) are isolated and held by a U.S.-licensed broker, separate from the platform's own funds.
Transparent Supervision: An independent collateral agent (such as Ankura Trust) is introduced for supervision and provides daily transparency reports.
Technical Security: Smart contracts are audited by third parties (such as CertiK) and utilize institutional-level security architectures such as permissioned validator networks.
Dividend Distribution:
Automatic Processing: The system will automatically handle dividends on the ex-dividend date, using the dividends (after tax deductions) to repurchase the corresponding asset tokens for the holders, achieving on-chain compound interest.
Rights Confirmation: Tokens must be held before the ex-dividend date to be entitled to the current dividend rights.
Ex-Dividend Adjustment: Similar to traditional stock markets, the token price will undergo an 'ex-dividend' adjustment after the dividend to reflect changes in net asset value.
However, it is important to note ⚠️: Although Ondo is currently a leader in the RWA field and has seen a surge in trading volume on the Binance wallet recently, the Ondo project tokens have not yet empowered Ondo, similar to the previous UNI situation. Caution is still required when investing in Ondo.
