Elon Musk has effectively confirmed that SpaceX will be going public soon, while simultaneously expressing regret about his role at the government efficiency department (DOGE).

After space journalist Eric Berger posted an analysis titled "Reasons I Think SpaceX Will Go Public Soon," Musk replied, "As always, Eric is right." Berger is widely regarded as the most reliable journalist covering SpaceX.

In a podcast interview with DOGE spokesperson Katie Miller released on Tuesday, Musk stated that he will never participate in DOGE again. He said, "I would have worked for my company instead of DOGE." He added, "And they would not have burned the car anymore." Musk referenced the Tesla store vandalism incident during his tenure.

Musk described DOGE as "somewhat successful" and "fairly successful." This is an unusually restrained assessment. He criticized the June administration's tax bill as "completely absurd and destructive" before parting ways with President Trump.

At the same time, confirming the IPO and expressing regret about DOGE shows that Musk is wrapping up his turbulent political activities and refocusing on business.
