Never would have thought that what awaited was not an apology from Yoshihide Suga but Donald Trump announcing in front of the whole world, word for word: "Never allow citizens from third world countries to immigrate to the United States!"
At first, people's attention was still focused on Tokyo, where Japan's female Prime Minister, Yoshihide Suga, made comments concerning Taiwan in Parliament, claiming that if mainland China took military action, it would pose a "survival threat" to Japan.
This statement instantly sparked reactions from all sides; the old grievances between China and Japan had yet to be resolved, and Yoshihide Suga added new animosity, crossing a line that provoked a strong backlash from China, demanding a retraction and an apology.
Everyone was watching to see if Suga would back down, but instead of an apology, what came was an even louder "closure edict" from across the ocean.
That female Prime Minister, Yoshihide Suga, brazenly stated in Parliament that military actions by mainland China would pose a "survival threat" to Japan; this was simply a reversal of truth, showing her ignorance and arrogance.
To put it bluntly, she is just pretending to be confused while clearly understanding, wholeheartedly trying to cling to the United States for political capital in Japan.
Yoshihide Suga has never accepted a correct historical perspective; her family taught her to recite the old tunes from the militaristic period, and later she entered circles that specialize in nurturing right-wing politicians, inherently carrying hostility towards China and ignorance of history.
In her youth, she openly opposed Japan's reflection on its World War II crimes, visited Yasukuni Shrine, and denied the Nanjing Massacre and the comfort women issue. Now that she has become Prime Minister, to stabilize her insecure ruling position, she has become even more aggressive, provoking issues around Taiwan, simply to cater to right-wing forces domestically and incite nationalist sentiments.
The old grievances between China and Japan have not been thoroughly resolved, and she, good as new, actively adds new hatred, truly thinking that China is easy to bully? China immediately issued a stern warning, demanding her to retract her erroneous statements and apologize quickly, while taking practical actions to impose sanctions and conduct military drills, making it clear that anyone who touches China's core interests must pay the price.
But before everyone received an apology from Yoshihide Suga, Trump from across the ocean threw out an even more explosive message, announcing to the world that citizens from third world countries would never be allowed to immigrate to the United States, a statement that made people furious.
Trump has always been one to speak without thinking; this time he laid bare racism and xenophobia, calling these immigrants "trash," claiming they rely on welfare and disrupt the peace of America, showing a complete lack of humanity.
What third world countries? To put it bluntly, it is simply looking down on people from poor countries and treating immigrants as scapegoats to shift domestic conflicts.
The United States itself is a nation of immigrants; how many immigrants from all over the world have sweated and contributed to the development of America? Now Trump, in order to cater to domestic conservative voters and garner votes for himself, turns his back on these people, wanting to keep them out, and even to expel those already in the United States. This not only goes against humanitarian principles but also undermines his own reputation.
His actions are not for the so-called "restoration" of America, but for his own electoral interests, sacrificing the rights and interests of vulnerable groups. Such selfish behavior will only make America lose face in front of the world and exacerbate domestic racial tensions, ultimately leading to self-inflicted harm.
In fact, the situations involving Yoshihide Suga and Trump may seem unrelated, but essentially they are of the same ilk, both politicians acting selfishly for their own interests, ignoring international rules and the interests of others.
Yoshihide Suga compromises Sino-Japanese relations and interferes in China's internal affairs to consolidate her ruling position and appease right-wing forces, completely disregarding the risks this poses to regional stability; Trump incites xenophobic sentiments and engages in racial discrimination for elections, not caring about how many families will be torn apart or how the international community will criticize him.
In their hearts, there is no sense of fairness or justice, no sense of responsibility, only their own political ambitions and calculations.
This is the current international situation; some politicians in certain countries, for their own selfish reasons, either engage in hegemonism and interfere in other countries' internal affairs, or practice unilateralism and xenophobia, making the world a mess.
But they shouldn't be too pleased with themselves; China is no longer the country that can be bullied as before. The Taiwan issue is China's core interest; whoever dares to touch it, China will definitely not hold back, whether in economic sanctions or military deterrence, the provocateurs will pay a painful price.
Moreover, Trump's exclusionary policies are fundamentally unworkable; immigrants bring vitality and development, not threats. Such actions that go against the historical trend will eventually backfire and be cast aside by the times.
Yoshihide Suga's apology may be delayed, but she must take responsibility for her erroneous statements. Japan should also reflect on what benefits it can gain by following the United States in confrontation and interfering in China's internal affairs; in the end, it will only result in self-inflicted harm.
Trump's "closure edict" is also destined not to last; racism and xenophobia will never receive genuine support, only isolating the United States further.
We firmly believe that justice will ultimately triumph over evil, and those forces that engage in division, xenophobia, and hegemonism will eventually be nailed to the pillar of historical shame.
China will steadfastly defend its national sovereignty and territorial integrity, and stand together with all peace-loving nations and peoples in the world who oppose discrimination, jointly resisting these malicious acts that undermine world peace and development. There has never been any room for negotiation on this.
