PiCore Team December 11 - 8:47 PM
Pi is pleased to announce the winners of the Pi 2025 Hackathon, the first hackathon held after the launch of the open network. The winning applications provided valuable use cases that enhance interaction with Pi, its accessibility, and its benefits. With over 215 applications submitted from the mainnet, the Pi 2025 Hackathon demonstrated the clear enthusiasm of developers to build production-ready practical applications on the Pi mainnet. Read the announcement to see the top three winners and five projects that received honorable mentions, and explore all participants in the hackathon through the "hackathon25" tab in the browser.

Today is December 11, 2025, and this is a big announcement from the PiCoreTeam (the official Pi team) at 8:47 PM. This announcement reveals the winners of the "Pi Hackathon 2025," which is the first hackathon (a programming and app development competition) after the network opened on the Open Network experimentally.
What is this hackathon originally?
This hackathon was from August 15 to October 15, 2025, and invited developers (people who code) to build real and ready applications on the Mainnet (the main network of Pi that is now fully operational).
The purpose: To make Pi useful in daily life, like payments, communication, and gaming, and to expand the network to connect with the outside world.
What happened: More than 215 applications entered the competition, and all were ready for real use, not just ideas. This proves that developers are very excited to build useful things on Pi!
Main winners: The three oldest who received the big prizes (the prize values were not specified in the announcement, but they are the best). Each application uses Pi in a smart way:
The first place: Blind_Lounge
This is a social and dating application with very high privacy. People connect anonymously (not knowing each other's identities), and then if they like each other, they reveal their identities. It features chat, random matching, and anonymous posts. To prevent spam, you must pay a small amount of Pi to create a profile, which is limited to those who have KYC (Know Your Customer).
Why is it nice? It makes communication secure and enjoyable, using Pi as a filter for seriousness.
The second place: Starmax
Loyalty program application for stores and shops. As a Pioneer (Pi user), you can spend Pi at participating stores and receive rewards. Stores can create their own loyalty programs to attract new customers.
Why is it nice? It makes Pi like cash back in daily life, helping small businesses grow.
The third place: RUN FOR PI
A fast running game like the ones where you run and collect points. But here, Pi is integrated into the game: you can buy boosters, unlock levels, or enter prizes and leaderboards.
Why is it nice? It converts Pi into a currency within games, so you can play, earn, and spend Pi quickly.
Honorary mentions: The five who deserve recognition but are not main winners, yet they are also excellent and deserve a trial:
Kindrek: A dating and communication app for romance, friendship, or work. It integrates Pi into payments and ads for paid features.
Workflet for Pi: A productivity tool for teamwork, like managing teams and projects, with spaces according to role (like manager or employee). Pi is integrated but only at the beginning.
PallyPay: An app for splitting bills with friends, like paying for meals or trips. It allows small Pi transfers within groups and can add lists of stores.
SimpleJoy: An open-source game library, easy and free in the browser, for light entertainment without complications.
Agora Pulse: A survey application for communities, to ask questions, share opinions, and vote. It experiments with Pi to increase engagement to understand people's opinions.
What will happen now? And how do you see it?
These applications are not finished; the teams will develop them further based on user feedback, but you might find some bugs in the beginning.
How to try it? Open the Pi Browser app, go to the Ecosystem Interface section, and click on the "hackathon25" tab to see all 215 applications and try the ones you like.
The big impact: This proves that Pi is not just a currency; it’s a living network that grows with developers. This hackathon opens doors to real applications like payments, gaming, and communication.
