Today marks exactly 15 years since Satoshi Nakamoto’s final public message on the BitcoinTalk forum (December 12, 2010).
Looking at the screenshot, it’s remarkably mundane. There was no "goodbye." Just patch notes about Denial-of-Service (DoS) limits and version 0.3.19. He was working on the code until the very last moment.
But his departure was perhaps the most critical feature he ever implemented.
By removing the "Founder," Satoshi removed the single point of failure. He removed the central authority. He allowed Bitcoin to transition from a startup project to a truly decentralized global protocol.
For 15 years, Bitcoin has stood on its own, surviving without a CEO, a PR department, or a headquarters.
Satoshi gave the world the code, but his silence gave the world Bitcoin.
