December 12 — the anniversary of the publication of Satoshi Nakamoto's last public message on the forum. In 2010, the creator of Bitcoin published a technical post dedicated to the update of Bitcoin Core 0.3.19. The entry became the final public point of his participation in the project's life.
In honor of this sad anniversary, the BeInCrypto editorial team recalled what Satoshi's last post was about and how exactly he said goodbye to the crypto community.

The last public message from Satoshi Nakamoto was published on December 12, 2010, on the forum. The developer accompanied the release of Bitcoin Core version 0.3.19. The entry was strictly technical in nature and was addressed to community members who were following the development of the client and the state of the network.
The main focus of the message was on protection against DoS attacks. Satoshi explicitly stated that the Bitcoin software at that time did not possess resilience to such threats. The added restrictions were considered by him as a partial improvement rather than a complete solution. He emphasized that there were more potential attack vectors than implemented protective mechanisms.
The text also mentioned the parameter -limitfreerelay, which was left as an optional switch. Satoshi explained that the setting is preserved for manual use if necessary.
A separate part of the message was dedicated to the removal of safe mode alerts. The safe mode mechanism was introduced earlier as a temporary measure after a critical bug in version 0.3.9 and was not intended for long-term use. Despite the possibility of manually disabling it, the very presence of such a mode, in Satoshi's opinion, created an undesirable impression of the system's maturity.
At the same time, the client's defensive logic was preserved. If a node detected a chain of blocks with a larger cumulative Proof-of-Work but with rule violations, it would not accept it and would not switch to it automatically.
When Satoshi finally disappeared from the radars
After publishing the message from December 12, 2010, Satoshi Nakamoto no longer posted messages in the public space.
The last known communication from Satoshi occurred in April 2011 in the format of private email correspondence with developer Mike Hearn. In one of the letters, he stated that he had moved on to other matters and noted that the project was in the reliable hands of Gavin Andresen and the community.
After this letter, there have been no recorded public or private messages from Satoshi Nakamoto. From this moment, his presence in the information space completely ceased.
