ZEROBASE Frontend Hack Leads to Over $240K in User Losses
A compromised frontend allowed attackers to steal funds from hundreds of ZEROBASE users, highlighting ongoing risks in interface-level exploits.
Hackers infiltrated the frontend of the ZEROBASE protocol on December 12, resulting in significant losses for more than 270 users. According to reports, over $240,000 was drained, with one affected wallet losing more than 123,000 USDT. The attack appears to stem from a malicious frontend that redirected users to phishing contracts, tricking them into granting unauthorized USDT approvals.
Notably, ZEROBASE had recently warned the community about fake interfaces on the BNB Chain attempting to impersonate its platform. Despite the alert, the attackers successfully leveraged the compromised frontend to execute the theft.
This incident serves as a reminder that even when smart contracts function correctly, frontends remain a critical vulnerability point. Users should double-check URLs, revoke outdated approvals, and rely on trusted sources when interacting with DeFi protocols.
