Japan has begun construction on the world's largest destroyer.
Recently, Japan has called on the Ministry of Defense to start building the next-generation 10,000-ton class ASEV destroyer, aimed at countering and opposing the East's Type 055 destroyer.
From the model and parameters revealed in March 2025, the ASEV destroyer has a total length of 190 meters, a width of 25 meters, and a full-load displacement of over 16,000 tons. It is equipped with a total of 128 American MK41 vertical launch system cells, capable of launching a series of missiles including Standard 2, Standard 3, Standard 6, ASROC, and Tomahawk.
Once this destroyer is constructed, Japan will possess the world's largest destroyer, and we must be vigilant against such a rise in militarism; it seems that joint operations of naval ships patrolling Japan will require us to visit more often.
