Jack Butcher brought the 'Pay What You Want' receipt distribution initiative to the Miami Beach Basel art fair.
Artist Jack Butcher is known to NFT collectors for his defining projects such as Checks and Openen. He showcased a physical self-checkout kiosk named 'Self Checkout' at the Miami Beach Basel art fair.
Visitors can walk up, pay any amount, and the machine will print a receipt that includes a 'mnemonic', or a key that can activate a micro crypto wallet, and record the NFT version of that receipt on the Ethereum blockchain.
At the start of the art fair, Butcher listed the installation costs at approximately $74,211, and by the end of the fair, the 'Self Checkout' project collected 5,837 receipts through online, offline, and on-chain transactions, averaging $11.41 per receipt, with the 1/1 auction concluding with a final profit and loss of $114,706.51 and total revenue of $188,917.51.
According to the artist himself on Twitter, Self Checkout has been acquired by the Beijing X Art Museum.

Rekt has partnered with X Games to create a regulated pathway for large token holders.
Rekt Drinks, the beverage company behind the REKT token, announced it will become a partner of the 2026 Aspen X Games, and the company also announced a partnership with the Abu Dhabi Global Market-regulated wealth platform Aspen Digital, which has been approved for compliant trading involving the Rekt token.
This update means that family offices and other large investors can now choose to access the token through regulated channels; Rekt stated that Aspen Digital and EVG will be responsible for conducting educational outreach in the Middle East and Asia to explain how the digital token operates.
