Exploring Quantum-Resistant Solutions for the Bitcoin Blockchain

According to PANews, Blockstream researchers Mikhail Kudinov and Jonas Nick examined various methods for upgrading the Bitcoin blockchain to be quantum-resistant in a modified paper published on December 5. They propose hash-based signatures as an attractive post-quantum solution since their security relies only on assumptions about the hash function, similar to the design of the original Bitcoin. Kudinov shared the results of his findings with the Bitcoin developers' mailing list, noting that these schemes have undergone extensive cryptographic analysis during the post-quantum standardization process by the National Institute of Standards and Technology (NIST), which enhances confidence in their robustness.
