🔹A software bug existed in the Ethereum Prysm client, introduced into the test network a month before the Fusaka upgrade, which caused node validation issues on the mainnet on December 4

🔹The bug causing Prysm nodes to run out of resources while processing asynchronous validations forced them to recreate previous states, leading to a massive computational burden

🔸The consequence is that the network participation rate dropped to 75% over more than 42 epochs and caused validators to lose about 382 ETH in validation rewards.

🔸However, the bug has been fixed and node operators have been instructed to implement a temporary solution.

🔸This incident could be much worse if Prysm held a larger market share. The diversity of client software is a factor that prevents significant impact and protects the integrity of the network.

🔹The software bug lasted for a month in the Prysm client of Ethereum, although it only affected one-third of the network, it caused a loss of 382 ETH and highlighted the extremely important role of client software diversity in protecting the stability and validation of the Ethereum network.
