The main cryptocurrency news on the morning of December 15

Exor, which owns a controlling stake in the Juventus football club, has officially refused to sell the club to Tether. The statement says that Exor does not intend to sell its stake to Tether or anyone else and will continue to fully control the club.

Earlier, Tether offered to buy shares of Juventus for over 1 billion euros and stated its readiness to further invest in the team's development. However, Exor's head, John Elkann, emphasized that the club has belonged to his family for over 100 years, and its history and principles are not up for negotiation.

The investment division of Itaú Unibanco, the largest private bank in Brazil and Latin America, recommended clients to hold bitcoin in their portfolio.

Itaú Asset Management partner Renatu Eid considers an optimal share to be 1-3%. He called bitcoin a diversification tool and protection against the devaluation of the national currency.

According to him, BTC should not be the foundation of a portfolio but can complement it due to its weak correlation with Brazil's internal economic cycles and the potential for long-term growth. The recommendation is also related to the volatility of the Brazilian real and the development of the bank's own crypto products, including the bitcoin ETF BITI11 and built-in crypto asset trading for clients.

The DeFi product storage Ribbon Finance, which continued to operate after rebranding the project to Aevo, was hacked. Approximately $2.7 million was stolen.

The attack occurred on December 12 and affected the inherited wallets of DOV-vaults (DeFi Options Vaults). The main exchange Aevo and its Layer-2 infrastructure were not affected.

The cause of the hack was the oracle update on December 6. An error was made in it: any user could independently set price values for new assets. The attacker took advantage of this, altered the prices in the oracle, and withdrew funds in ETH and stablecoins, distributing them across 15 wallets. The lost funds are planned to be partially compensated by the company through the DAO.

Recall that earlier BeInCrypto reported that hackers from North Korea stole $300 million through fake Zoom meetings.
