The latest "Week in GameFi" snapshot from CoinMarketCap presents a mixed picture of the sector, characterized by lower overall metrics but tremendous gains among a handful of smaller tokens.

According to the chart, the total market capitalization of GameFi currently stands at $9.03 billion, reflecting a weekly decline of 1.84%. While the drop in market cap remains relatively contained, trading activity has sharply decreased. The weekly trading volume is $1.29 billion, down 77.50% from the same period, indicating a significant slowdown in overall market participation.

Despite this contraction in key metrics, price movements within individual tokens tell a different story.

Small market cap tokens dominate weekly performance.

The "Top Gainers" section highlights the exceptional performance among several low market cap GameFi projects. The Morra (MORRA) token tops the list, recording gains of 7,456.13% over seven days, priced at $0.01365 and a market cap of $4.88 million.

Followed by the DOSE token, which increased by 505.60% to $0.048577, though with a much smaller market cap of $73,228. BullBear AI (AIBB), Mars Battle (SHOOT), and KnockOut Games (GG) also recorded triple-digit weekly gains ranging from 119% to 161%, although their market caps remain in the lower millions or less.

These numbers confirm how a narrow group of tokens led most of the increase during the week, even with weak activity in the broader sector.

Narrative momentum is strengthening.

The "Spotlight" section in the chart indicates a shift in narrative positioning. The GameFi sector rose from 15th place to 2nd place week after week on the DeFiLlama narrative tracking tool, indicating a sharp increase in interest compared to other cryptocurrency sectors.

Additional highlights appearing in the snapshot include: support for alea_game, increasing focus on sustainability in Web3 games, strong price movements following their listing on the Binance Alpha platform, and a clear trend among game studios towards adopting stablecoins as infrastructure within blockchain games.

Overall, the chart depicts the GameFi market experiencing a decline in liquidity and participation, while at the same time witnessing renewed narrative strength and highly concentrated gains at the token level.
