Reduction in cryptocurrency ownership in the United Kingdom against a backdrop of stable awareness

According to Foresight News, a report from the UK's Financial Conduct Authority reveals a decline in the share of adults owning cryptocurrency, which has decreased to approximately 8% this year. This is the first annual decrease in cryptocurrency ownership in the United Kingdom since 2021. In 2024, approximately 7 million adults, representing 12% of the adult population, are expected to own cryptocurrency, an increase from 10% in 2022 and 4.4% in 2021.

Surveys also indicate that public awareness of cryptocurrency remains stable at 91%, which is consistent with the previous year. Among those who own cryptocurrency, most expect their assets to increase in 2025 compared to 2024. About 21% of users own cryptocurrency worth between £1,001 and £5,000, while the share of users owning cryptocurrency valued at less than £100 has decreased.
