After the tracing process, investigators identified the key point lying in the team of "customer care" that directly lured the victims, from which they traced back to a disguised technology company operating fraudulent websites with about 30 employees. The three key suspects identified include Lưu Tuyết Long (the leader), A Hồng (in charge of technology), and Tôn Nhã Lệ – Long's girlfriend (financial manager). In March 2017, the police simultaneously raided, arresting Lưu Tuyết Long in Hunan, seizing assets estimated at 800 million CNY; the suspect was subsequently sentenced to 16 years in prison and fined 301 million CNY. The case is a wake-up call about online fraud and the price to pay when exchanging freedom for illegal assets.
