“My wallet was stolen!” Last summer, my friend called me crying. His wallet was hacked, and all of his assets worth 500,000 were stolen. The on-chain transactions are irreversible, and he couldn't get them back. In fact, such incidents happen every day in the crypto world. According to statistics, by 2025, tens of billions of dollars will have evaporated due to security issues, with over 60% of losses caused by user operational errors. Since I entered the market, I have never experienced asset theft, relying on these 5 security tips. Today, I will share them all with you. After reading this, you won't have to worry about asset security anymore!

Many users have extremely weak security awareness and always feel that 'hackers are far away from them.' As a result, due to a small mistake, their assets can be wiped out. Common security misconceptions include the following:

First, saving screenshots of private keys and mnemonic phrases or storing them in the cloud makes it easy for hackers to access them;

Second, reuse passwords. Using the same password to log into multiple platforms means that once one platform is compromised, others will also be affected;

Third, click on suspicious links. Many hackers impersonate exchanges or project parties to send phishing links. Once users click, their private keys can be stolen; fourth, operate on insecure devices. Logging into wallets on public computers or virus-infected phones can easily lead to the installation of Trojan programs. A friend of mine lost their assets because they saved a screenshot of their mnemonic phrase on their phone, and after losing the phone, someone cracked the wallet password.

After years of practice, I have summarized five essential security skills for the cryptocurrency world that must be etched in your mind:

First, store private keys and mnemonic phrases correctly. Use Bitwarden or 1Password to manage passwords, using different passwords for each platform, and ensure the password length exceeds 20 characters; mnemonic phrases must be handwritten or engraved on fireproof metal plates, absolutely not saved as screenshots and not shared with anyone.

Second, use hardware wallets to store large assets. For large assets, it is essential to use hardware wallets such as Ledger or Trezor, which store private keys offline, providing extremely high security that is difficult for hackers to attack.

Third, regularly revoke authorizations. Use tools like Revoke.cash to periodically revoke wallet authorizations for unfamiliar DApps, as many hackers exploit authorization vulnerabilities to steal assets.

Fourth, carefully check the URL. When logging into an exchange or wallet, make sure to check each character of the URL to avoid entering a fake website. Many fake websites look just like legitimate ones and can be easily confused.

Fifth, enable multi-factor authentication. On exchanges and wallets, always enable app-based two-factor authentication, such as Google Authenticator, and avoid using SMS authentication, as it is easily intercepted.

My point is: in the cryptocurrency world, security is the top priority. Without security, no matter how high the returns, it is all talk. Many people work hard to earn money in the cryptocurrency space, only to lose it all overnight due to security issues. Such tragedies are really unfortunate. We must raise our security awareness and implement security techniques in every operation to ensure our efforts are not wasted.

Tomorrow, I will talk to you about 'how to choose a secure exchange' and teach you how to avoid the pitfalls of small-scale exchanges running away with your funds. Follow me for comprehensive asset security protection and to steadily achieve success in the cryptocurrency world. After all, as long as the green hills remain, there is no fear of running out of firewood. Only by preserving assets can one continue in the cryptocurrency space for the long term!
