New breakthrough in Ethereum privacy! Vitalik Buterin proposes the "Privacy Address" plan, allowing transfers to be as discreet as sending private packages?🚀

Ethereum co-founder Vitalik Buterin (V神) revealed on Twitter a new direction aimed at enhancing Ethereum's privacy—introducing a "simple and user-friendly, privacy address-like" solution. In addition to the privacy-enhancing tools like Tornado Cash currently in progress, this plan hopes to allow users to transfer to ENS domain addresses without publicly exposing the recipient's identity, truly achieving "stealth payment."

V神 further explained how it works:

1️⃣ The ENS domain holder publishes a public key P

2️⃣ The sender generates a random number r and sends tokens to a new address calculated from r and P via elliptic curve multiplication

3️⃣ The recipient can control these assets using the corresponding private key

4️⃣ The sender just needs to securely transmit the random number r to the recipient in some way, and the transaction is complete

Additionally, V神 mentioned another feasible solution: putting the encrypted r on-chain along with the public key P. However, this method requires the recipient to constantly scan all privacy transactions, leading to high long-term operational costs. While scanning time can be reduced through segmented storage, it proportionally weakens anonymity, thus requiring a trade-off between efficiency and privacy.

This proposal quickly sparked heated discussions in the community, with many believing that if this plan is implemented, it will significantly enhance the transaction privacy of ordinary users and further strengthen the privacy protection layer of the Ethereum ecosystem.
