American stock indices: Stability against cryptocurrency volatility

While both stocks and cryptocurrencies recorded gains in 2024, the contrast became much clearer in 2025. American stock indices once again finished the year in positive territory, while cryptocurrencies mostly closed the year lower.

In 2025, the Nasdaq gained 20%, the S&P 500 16%, and the Russell 2000 13%. The market was supported by the slowdown in inflation and expectations of rate cuts, while the technology sector attracted additional demand as part of the investment cycle in artificial intelligence.

For cryptocurrencies, this context helps explain the reallocation of venture capital. Investors are increasingly accessing assets through regulated exchange-traded instruments, which have high liquidity and clear rules. In this context, stocks appeared more attractive in terms of risk-return balance, while cryptocurrencies, after a strong start to the year, failed to maintain capital inflows throughout the year.
