Everyone recently went crazy over 'slippers' in Telegram and games that pay with tokens. But did you know that the first such game appeared back in 2014?
While Bitcoin was worth pennies, and Ethereum was not even a thought, two developers launched Huntercoin (HUC). It was a crazy experiment.
What was the deal?
It was a game that lived right 'inside' the blockchain. You didn't just press buttons — you were engaged in 'human mining'. To earn coins, you needed to manage hunters on a virtual map, gather resources, and... kill other players to take their loot.
Why it was legendary:
No servers. The game operated in a decentralized manner. If the developers disappeared, the game would continue to live on the miners' nodes.
Real money. In 2014, players managed to earn up to $10,000 a day! In those times, that was astronomical amounts.
The War of Bots. Since real money was at stake, the game was quickly flooded with bots. There was even a legendary bot called 'The Dominator' that kept the entire map in fear.
Result:
Huntercoin showed that blockchain is not just about boring transactions, but about a whole digital world. If it weren't for this 'grandfather' from 2014, we wouldn't have NFT games or metaverses.
