This is the chart of GOLD, which in January 2026 alone has already risen more than 30%, an impressive rise for GOLD, and obviously left everyone surprised by this recent performance.
There are numerous reasons why GOLD has been making a wild chart like this:
We saw that the Dollar has weakened significantly recently, which causes gold to rise in terms of USD because assets denominated in other currencies become cheaper, and gold is traditionally a hedge against weak currency. However, that is not the main reason; there are other things...
Conflicts on multiple fronts (U.S. vs Iran, tensions U.S. vs Venezuela, prolonged wars Russia vs Ukraine, and trade uncertainties U.S. vs WORLD) have raised fears of a major commercial catastrophe, and obviously, Central Banks and Governments are seeking some security in Gold, since it is (still) the classic safe-haven asset, and in moments of global fear, it tends to be the main choice (for now).
The world is moving towards CAOs, and it seems that Trump doesn't just want to walk but to run. In light of this, China and other central banks are accumulating gold on a large scale, part of a strategy of dedollarization and diversification of reserves; no one wants to be caught off guard here. This EXAGGERATED institutional movement is what sustains such high prices at the current moment.
Not only the Central Banks, but we are seeing countries like Poland (which now holds more gold than the European Central Bank) and the BRICS making a strong move towards gold; the possible gold-backed currency they want to create is an important step in this price dynamic. There are serious discussions within the BRICS about creating an alternative currency to the dollar backed by gold or a basket that includes it, something that helps extend the structural demand for gold.
Even though a launch is still uncertain, it creates a narrative for investors seeking protection against a financial system dominated by the dollar that could collapse faster as Trump goes to war against the world.
No one taking their medications on time will look at this chart and say that everything is fine; it becomes evident that a brutal correction will soon begin to appear. Don't think I hate GOLD; on the contrary... I like gold, but liking it doesn't mean closing my eyes and just hoping.
Even though it seems that we will continue with this high level of global conflict, and that this will continue to drive the price of Gold, it is not what is likely to happen, and the return of confidence in risk/economic optimism will cause Gold to fall rapidly and adjust healthily, especially when there are real advances in global trade agreements (for example, the U.S. and China improving relations) and risk markets return to dominance; the need for gold as a 'safe haven' decreases.
We will also see central banks begin to reduce and subsequently stagnate their gold purchases (for liquidity reasons and strategic changes); this will mean less institutional demand.
In a scenario where investors sell gold to cover losses in other markets or pay debts, the price will adjust quickly, especially if large players change positions simultaneously.
Geopolitical tensions will noticeably ease with major diplomatic agreements; it doesn't matter who is on which side, we will have major agreements in the end.
...AND CRYPTOCURRENCIES?
Historically, when gold starts to lose strength, more speculative capital migrates to higher-risk assets. And today, those assets are Cryptocurrencies.
With gold near its historical peak and the market already well positioned, the next move tends to be rotation, not flight, and this rotation, primarily towards Bitcoin, will cause the entire market to rise rapidly. Then, we will see #BTC above $130K and many altcoins skyrocketing to their ATHs.
We are currently seeing a significant advancement in the willingness to create a clear and transparent framework for Cryptos in the U.S. that should soon spread worldwide; this will position Cryptocurrencies as a serious alternative for those who have spent years accumulating Gold. The regulatory clarity and unique characteristics of Cryptocurrencies will cause those who have spent years accumulating gold to quickly pivot and accumulate Crypto.
There is a large amount of capital waiting for clarity in the sector, and that clarity will arrive soon; therefore, there is no version of the future where Cryptocurrencies are not the global language of innovation and financial freedom, building a new foundation for human evolution.
I will be here when that moment arrives!
