Why do all Altcoins drop more when BTC drops?
Basic equation
Altcoin's dollar price = Bitcoin price × Altcoin/BTC ratio
Mathematics is this simple.
ALT/USD = BTC/USD × ALT/BTC
There is no escape from this.
A clear example with numbers (very important)
Let's say:
BTC = 100.000 $
ALT/BTC = 0.01
Altcoin price:
100.000 × 0.01 = 1.000 $
Now only BTC should drop:
BTC = 80.000 $
ALT/BTC = NEVER CHANGED (0.01)
New price: 80.000 × 0.01 = 800 $
Altcoin has not lost value against BTC but has dropped by 20% in dollar terms
This drop is purely mathematical.
No panic, no news, no manipulation.
So why does it generally drop more?
Because this happens in real life:
BTC drops
ALT/BTC also drops
Example:
BTC = $80,000
ALT/BTC = 0.01 → 0.008
Altcoin: 80,000 × 0.008 = 640 $
Result:
BTC dropped by 20%
Altcoin dropped by 36%
This is the event we refer to as "altcoins drop harder."
.........
Why does ALT/BTC drop?
When BTC drops, the investor thinks like this:
"Risk is increasing; I shouldn't hold altcoins."
What does it do? Sells altcoins
Switches to BTC or USDT
This sale pushes the ALT/BTC chart down
So: BTC is dropping
Altcoin is also losing strength against BTC
There will be a double blow.
How to read the ALT/BTC chart? (very critical)
Look at this scenario:
Strong Altcoin
BTC is dropping
ALT/BTC is horizontal or upward
What does this mean?
"This altcoin is strong compared to the market"
Typically, leading coins behave this way during a bull market.
Weak Altcoin
BTC is dropping
ALT/BTC is dropping sharply
What does this mean?
"Money is fleeing; no one wants to hold it"
These coins may not recover for months.
Stop-loss mathematics (chain drop)
Let's say the altcoin is $10:
Support: $10
Stops: 9.9 – 9.7 – 9.5
BTC made a small candle down
Altcoin has come to 9.9:
Stop worked
There was a sale
Price 9.7
One more stop...
This is completely:
Order book
Algorithm
Mathematics
It's not about feelings.
..........
When does an altcoin not drop? (golden information)
If these three conditions are met together:
BTC is horizontal
BTC dominance is dropping
ALT/BTC is rising
Altcoin rises in USD terms
That's why traders:
BTC/USD
ALT/USD
Looks at ALT/BTC
To summarize in one sentence
Altcoins are connected to Bitcoin not just psychologically, but directly mathematically.
When BTC drops, even if the ratio stays constant, altcoin drops; if the ratio drops too, a crash occurs.
