Google's Threat Intelligence Group (GTIG) has identified a new complete chain exploit on iOS that fully leveraged several zero-day vulnerabilities to compromise devices. Based on the tool signatures in the recovered payload, we believe the exploit chain is called DarkSword. Since at least November 2025, GTIG has observed several commercial surveillance vendors and state-sponsored suspects using DarkSword in targeted campaigns. These malicious actors have deployed the exploit chain against targets in Saudi Arabia, Turkey, Malaysia, and Ukraine.
