What it is: Avantis is a decentralized perpetuals exchange (DEX) built on the Base blockchain. Assets traded: Users can trade not just cryptocurrencies, but also real-world assets like forex, commodities, and indices — all in perpetual (never-expiring) contracts. Leverage: Up to 500× leverage is available on certain markets. Fees: Unique “zero-fee” model — traders only pay a fee when they profit. Token (AVNT): Total supply: 1 billion AVNT. Utilities: Can be staked, used for governance, get fee discounts, and share in protocol rewards. Security: AVNT stakers help backstop liquidity providers — in high volatility, staked AVNT can be “slashed” and used to cover LP losses. Liquidity Model: Liquidity providers deposit USDC into vaults that are split into different risk “tranches” (senior for low-risk, junior for high-risk) to choose their risk-return profile. Incentives: Traders who take the less popular side of a trade can get loss rebates, incentivizing market balance. Revenue Split: 60% of protocol revenue goes to LPs, 40% to treasury (for insurance, incentives, development). Goal / Vision: Avantis aims to be a universal leverage layer for DeFi — bringing high-leverage, institutional-grade trading on-chain in a permissionless way. Backers: Supported by major players like Pantera Capital and Coinbase Ventures.
