Recently, I have often been thinking about a question:
What kind of project can truly be called 'the real underlying layer'?
It is not about high TPS, low energy consumption, or zero Gas; these do not count.
The real underlying layer is—
Other projects cannot bypass it.
In a multi-chain future, 'cross-chain collaboration' is an unavoidable demand.
If it is not solved, the industry will forever be stuck in the cycle of 'the faster the expansion, the more severe the fragmentation.'
The goal of Plasma is to solve this cycle.
It is not about making a faster L2, nor is it about creating a cheaper scaling solution; it is about enabling all chains to 'collaborate seamlessly.'
I had an intuition the first time I seriously looked at its design structure:
If this thing really takes off, it will become the "hidden backbone" of the entire industry.
Why do I say that?
Because it solves the pain points of everyone currently in cross-chain:
Slow speed
High risk
Complex interaction
Costs are opaque
Liquidity is dispersed
The architecture and specifications of different chains vary
These are not problems that can be "optimized," but rather problems that must be "solved."
The most interesting thing is that ordinary users will never care about the code of Plasma, nor will they even realize they are using the Plasma protocol.
But they will feel:
"Huh? Why is cross-chain working so smoothly all of a sudden?"
This is the wonderful thing about infrastructure:
The lower the presence, the greater the value.
And the value of XPL will gradually be reflected as the ecological dependency grows.
There are many overhyped Hot Narratives in the cryptocurrency circle, but nine out of ten won't survive a cycle;
And once the infrastructure is established, it will become an irreplaceable part of the industry.
This is also why I increasingly feel that Plasma is a project worth tracking in the long term.
It does not need to go viral in the short term,
It just needs to quietly do what it is doing.
My judgment is simple:
If there are more and more chains in the future, the demand for Plasma will become stronger;
If future assets become more liquid, the status of XPL will become higher.
This is why I say Plasma is the "infrastructure of infrastructure."
