Binance denied claims that the exchange was involved in promoting new meme coins.
This statement came as concerns grew that the exchange's SNS posts are being converted into meme tokens.
Binance launches investigation into the correlation of meme coin tweets.
An example of this trend is a tweet from a Binance Futures post stating, 'Yellow fruit and the year of harvest! Plant wisely. Harvest abundantly.' A token using the same phrase and image appeared just before the post went live.
That point raised suspicions within Binance that someone had created or supported a token.
After this fact came to light, the exchange announced that it had begun an internal review.
However, Binance co-founder Yi He also refuted the claims. She stated that Binance has no agreements with KOLs or for the issuance of meme coins.
Instead, she pointed out that these token creators are copying phrases from Binance's posts to create tokens.
“The current community is acting in a manner unrelated to Binance, and is issuing coins using words extracted from Binance's official Twitter or my statements or posts. However, we cannot stop posting even if someone comes to find the angle,” she said.
In this regard, Yi He explained that the company's SNS team has broad autonomy in freely choosing phrases and structuring posts.
However, she emphasized that this freedom does not extend to token creation.
She emphasized that the exchange is preventing employees from issuing or promoting cryptocurrencies.
Meanwhile, former Binance CEO Changpeng Zhao wrote on X that the team would continue to post normally.
He added that no word used in corporate messaging should be interpreted as support for any token.
“Just because we create meme coins with the words we use does not mean that we can stop using these words again. We will tweet as usual. Every word in the tweet does not support a meme or token,” he said.
This clarification comes as Binance remains the world's largest cryptocurrency exchange by trading volume.
Therefore, if taken as support from the exchange or leadership, it could have a significant impact on the market. For that reason, we are trying to establish a clear boundary between the continuously growing meme coin ecosystem and SNS posts.
