Meeting in progress: The FED's Monetary Policy Committee (FOMC) is holding its two-day meeting.
Decision expected: The decision on interest rates will be announced tomorrow, Wednesday 10 December 2025.
High expectations: The markets are widely anticipating a 0.25% (25 basis point) cut in key interest rates, which would bring them down from the current range of 3.75%–4.00% to 3.50%–3.75%.
Climate: The Fed is divided between those who want to lower rates to support employment and prevent a recession (the "doves") and those who want to keep them steady to ensure that inflation does not rise again (the "hawks").
