Netflix has announced a new comedy film "One Attempt Remaining", which turns one of the scariest nightmares of crypto investors — a forgotten wallet password — into an absurd adventure. The lead roles are played by Jennifer Garner and an unknown actor as her ex-husband. The plot revolves around a divorced couple who won cryptocurrency years ago on a cruise during a "crazy night". Now this "prize" is worth 35 million dollars, but the password has slipped from memory. They have only 48 hours: the SEC sends a notice that the claim on the assets is expiring, otherwise — eternal goodbyes to fortune.

Director Kay Cannon ("Blockers") promises a mix of romance, panic, and humor: a couple travels to places of past adventures, trying to remember the password before the wallet "self-destructs" after failed attempts. The film is inspired by real stories, such as Stefan Thomas, who lost 7002 $BTC (over $400 million) due to a forgotten key for IronKey, where only two attempts remained. Or James Howells, whose 8000 BTC "went missing" in a landfill. It is estimated that billions of dollars in crypto are "frozen" due to such mistakes, highlighting the risks of self-custody.

This story is Hollywood's step into the mainstream of crypto: from dramas about exchange crashes to comedies about human weaknesses. The release date has not been announced, but the trailer already promises a hit. The film reminds: keep your seed phrases secure, because laughter is good, but loss is painful.
