#SEC发布加密资产托管指引 $BTC

The U.S. Securities and Exchange Commission (SEC) released guidelines for the custody of crypto assets on December 12, 2025. This guideline clearly explains the custody methods, related risks, and other specifics as follows:
1. Comparison of the advantages and disadvantages of custody methods: It clearly lists the pros and cons of self-custody and third-party custody. If choosing third-party custody, investors are reminded to pay attention to whether the institution has issues such as re-pledging the custody assets or mixing customer assets, to avoid asset risks.
2. Highlight the risks of wallet storage: It distinguishes the risk points of hot wallets and cold wallets; hot wallets connected to the internet are susceptible to hacking attacks and other cybersecurity threats, while cold wallets may suffer from permanent asset loss due to storage device damage, loss, or private key leakage.
This guideline is regarded by the crypto community as a significant shift in the SEC's regulatory stance. Previously, under the leadership of the former chairman, the agency had a tough attitude towards the crypto asset industry. Now, this guideline, which leans towards popular science and risk warning, can help investors understand the best practices related to custody and has positive implications for the normative development of the crypto asset custody industry.
