Strategy, the largest institutional buyer of Bitcoin, has been sharply reducing its monthly purchases since late 2024, from a peak of 135,000 BTC in November 2024 to around 9,000 BTC in November 2025.
This large reduction shows that the company is no longer counting on rapid market growth and is taking a more cautious approach. Strategy now holds around 650,000 BTC (3% of the total supply) worth close to $60 billion, with an average purchase of around $74,400. The company’s market value is also slightly below the true value of its assets, and if this gap widens, it is possible to sell some of its Bitcoins — albeit as a last resort.
In this regard, the company has also set aside a cash reserve of $1.4 billion to cover costs and liabilities if conditions become more difficult.
