The main cryptocurrency news of the morning of December 4.

Solana Mobile announced that the launch of its own SKR token will take place in January 2026. According to the company, SKR will become the base asset of the Solana Mobile device ecosystem and will be distributed among developers and users.

The total issuance volume will be 10 billion tokens, with 30% planned to be unlocked and distributed through an airdrop at launch. Users of Seeker devices and active dApp users will participate in the distribution.

Interest in the ecosystem is growing: in the summer, Solana Mobile announced 150,000 pre-orders for the Seeker smartphone, equipped with a built-in dApp Store, a Seed Vault key storage system, and a Genesis token for early access to applications and SKR rewards. New details about the role of SKR in the ecosystem are planned to be revealed at the Breakpoint conference in Abu Dhabi in December.

The Ethereum team activated the second major update of the year — Fusaka. The main innovation is the PeerDAS technology, which significantly increases data throughput, reduces transaction costs, and accelerates the interaction of L2 solutions with the network.

According to the Ethereum Foundation team, PeerDAS splits large arrays of rollup data into smaller parts, allowing nodes to load and transmit less information — this improves scalability, reduces blob fees, and makes the network faster while maintaining decentralization.

Fusaka accelerates Ethereum. Analysts suggest that improvements in the fundamental characteristics of the network could push ETH prices up, as was the case after the previous Pectra update.

At the DealBook summit, Coinbase CEO Brian Armstrong stated that several major banks in the US are already conducting pilot projects with stablecoins, custodial services, and organizing crypto trading in partnership with Coinbase.

He did not name specific banks but emphasized that those who delay the transition to the crypto sector will 'fall behind.' The head of BlackRock, Larry Fink, also spoke on the panel, noting that he now sees real practical significance in Bitcoin.

At the same time, the relationship between exchanges and banks remains tense. Banking lobbies are trying to limit the development of stablecoins and oppose the expansion of Coinbase's capabilities — including the company's acquisition of a national trust organization license that would allow it to officially provide custodial services in the US.
